Kiltu Kara Woreda’s Socio Economic Profile
1. Introduction
Kiltu Kara is one of the 21 districts of west Wollega Zone formed after session of Mene Sibu district in 1999. At present the district has 22 administrative sub divisions out of which 20 are peasant associations and the reaming 2 are urban centers. Kiltu Kara is the Capital of the district.The name kiltu kara was derived from two Oromo words Qilxu an indigenous broad leafed leafed big tree and “kara’’ meaning something seen at a distant.
In this short paper a brief socio- economic profile of this district is presented. Relevant information was collected from different Zonal department and district offices.
The paper was organized in to four parts.
The first part deals with introduction. The 2nd and 3rd parts brief physical setting and socio economic conditions respectively. Lastly part four describes problems and potentialities.
