SOCIO-ECONOMIC PROFILE OF SINANA DINSHO DISTRICT
Physical Characteristics:- Sinana Dinsho district is one of the 17 districts in Bale zone located in the north western corner of the zone. The district shares border lines with Agarfa, Gasera-Gololcha, Berbere, Goba, Adaba, Goro and Ginir districts. Robe is the district capital. Most of the land in the district is situated above 2000m. The major rivers of the district are Togona, Wayib and Shaya. The climatic zones of the district are cool (Dhamota) 1%,temperate (Badda) 47%, sub-tropical (Badda Dare) 50% and tropical (Gamoji) 2%. Sinana Dinsho district is characterized by two major soil units. These are Dystric and Humic Cambisols, and Chromic and Pellic Vertisols of the lithic phase. Coniferous forest is the common vegetation cover of the district dominated by Juniperus and podocarpus tree species with second storey consisting mostly of broad leaves. Sinana Dinsho district is one of the districts in Bale zone rich in forest resources. Bale Mountains National Park is also partly found in this district. Sinana Dinsho district is rich in wildlife. There are endemic mammals like Mountain Nyala and Semien Fox in the district.
